This perennial herb’s high concentration of menthol makes it popular as a flavouring agent and as the basis for various natural remedies, such as teas, infusions, or capsules.

Menthol has two important medicinal properties. To begin with, it’s a carminative that excels at relieving indigestion, flatulence, constipation and other symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Additionally, menthol can also stimulate the appetite while at the same time act as a sedative, this combination of effects making it extremely useful to relieve and prevent cramps, promote sleep and combat nausea. Finally, menthol has also been recognised for its proven anti-viral properties, which include easing influenza and inhibiting Herpes Simplex.
